Born in Greece, he started his music studies on the recorder and the flute with Gilles Gourdier and Ilie Macovei respectively.
He studied the recorder, the baroque flute as well as early music performance practice at the Utrecht School of the Arts (performers diploma 2001), at the Early Music Institute of Milan (on a Marco Fodella Scholarship) and at the Conservatory of Vienna. Among his tutors were Heiko ter Schegget, Wilbert Hazelzet, Kees Boeke, Marcello Gatti and Daniele Bragetti.
He studied medieval and renaissance music at the Early Music Institute of Trossingen and followed recorder masterclasses in France and Italy with Sebastien Marq and Daniel Bruggen.
He founded the ensemble Ex Silentio and forms the Duo Goliardi with Konstantinos Raptis (accordion). He collaborated with the United Europe Chamber Orchestra, the Harmony of Nations Baroque Orchestra, the State Orchestra of Athens, the Ionian Baroque Ensemble, The Latinitas Nostra, the Orchestra of Patras etc. He participated in many festivals throughout Europe such as the early music festival 'Trigonale' in Austria, the International Bach Festival in Riga, the Hellenic Festival of Athens, the 'Guitar plus' in Thessaloniki, the 'Musica antiqua da camera' in Holland, at the festival of ancient Corinthos, the Music Days in Rhodes, at the '2ndo Maggio' in Milan etc.
He has recorded for MDG and ARKYS and performed as soloist at the Sala Verdi of Milan, at the Casals Hall of Tokyo, at the Athens Concert Hall 'Megaron', and the Teatro Coccia in Novara.
He taugth at the Aristoteles University
of Thessaloniki and gave courses at the Conservatories of
Lugano and Klagenfurt, at the Ionian University and the
Early Music Days of Vichtelberg. Since 2007 he teaches at
the 'Mozaik Projekt' in Durres (Albania), at the summer
course 'Music Village' in Pelion and holds a permanent
seminar at the Nikolaos Mantzaros Conservatory in Athens
(Greece). He is researching the relations between music and
renaissance humanism in the 16th and 17th centuries for his
doctorate dissertation.
He lives in Vienna and performs with the ensemble
Labyrinthe.
